What is the purpose of our cuticles? Glad you asked. Cuticles are there for a reason and we need to pay better attention to them and give them some TLC.

Cuticles are part of your skin. They are a thin layer of dead skin that grows around your fingernails and toenails. Cuticles serve as a barrier and protection. Without cuticles, bacteria, dirt, and fungus could seep beneath your nail and cause an infection and then hinder that fingernail’s growth.

TIPS of what to do and what not to do for your cuticles.

1. Don’t Cut Your Cuticles.

Dermatologists say there’s no good reason to cut the cuticles.

Cutting them could open the door to infection or irritation. Cutting your cuticles can also lead to nail problems, such as ridges, white spots, or white lines.

2. Go Orange.

If you’re hoping to make your nails appear longer, you can push your cuticles back. Use a cuticle remover to help soften and dissolve the  dead skin cells. Gently use a cuticle pusher using small circular motions to push them back.

These are examples of what’s out there to use for a cuticle remover:

3. Moisturize.

You may have experienced dry cuticles that crack, peel, or flake just like dry skin does. Cuticles need a good moisturizer and any moisturizer will work fine for the cuticles. The more you moisturize, the better they will be. We have formulated this Cuticle Balm with all the best ingredients to soften, moisturize, hydrate, and protect your nails and cuticles from bacteria. https://skinnami.com/shop/cuticle-balm/

Ointments and thick creams are hard to wear all day because they can get messy. So whatever you moisturize your hands with, use on the cuticles as well. Skinnami’s no mess cuticle oil pen is a great solution for all day use. https://skinnami.com/products/skin-so-soft/cuticle-pens/ You can take it with you where ever you go.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CUTICLES:

Step 1: Soak your nails in warm soapy water for 10 minutes every few days. This will help soften and clean the cuticles.

Step 2: Remove excess cuticles with cuticle remover. Cuticle remover dissolves any overgrowth skin.

Step 3: Push back cuticles using an orange stick or plastic cuticle pusher using little circular motion. Rinse with warm soapy water.

Step 4: Remove any hangnails using a nail cuticle fork.

Step 5: Apply cuticle oil and a cuticle cream, balm, or lotion.

Take control and get those beautiful nails back in shape .
